amelia island florida

My family will be traveling to Amelia Island in early April. We are trying to decide between the plantation inn or the ritz carlton. We were wondering if any one has been to both resorts. We have heard good and bad reviews on both, but no one has been to both to make an honest comparison. Would appreciate any information. Thank you!

We will also be visiting in April but am curious as to why the resorts ? You can likely get a condo or cottage on the beach for similar or cheaper pricing. The resort side of the island is a bit removed from the Old Town & other amenities. Please just be aware of that as well. Though I've spent little time @ either, I'd pick the Ritz, but it would be way down my list of options. B & B's in the Old Town are also a good option, if it is adults only.

I'd also vote for a place such as a B&B in the old town. It would be more like what the "real" feeling of Amelia is like, rather than the resort feeling. But if the resort style is what you like, with luxury and pampering and those sorts of things, and likely a much higher price, go for it. Amelia is a special place worth visiting.

Thanks for the input but I have a teenager and and a B&B isnt an option. Sounds great for a couple.

I stayed at Amelia Island Plantation a few years ago. My wife and I and 2 boys ages 7,3. We had a 2 bedroom condo beachfront. It was dated but great for the beach. It was a 10 minute drive to town. To get a feel for Amelia I would stay within walking distance to town.

The Plantation would work for a teenager.
