I too liked the father/daughter team.

That bickering couple was starting to get on my last nerve. I hope it's just editing and they don't really talk like that to each other on a regular basis.

The Great Wall comment was priceless and the squirt gun stunt just scarey considering the times.

Did anyone else think it was weird that they had so much trouble getting cabs and having the cabbies know where they were going?

Funny I thought the same thing about the varied cast of charactors this time and commented to my DH that it looked like the United Nations. I like that diversity though.

I'm thinking that maybe they don't have an Older couple (60++) because the road blocks and such might be more physical this time. That Wall Climb looked really hard. And I thought the first gay guy was gonna hurt himself, not too mention the huge struggle of the first single mom. Not sure if I could have made that climb very easily at 47.

Can't wait for the next installment.

that climb didn't look easy for any age.... I keep saying that my niece and I should apply...she's very athletic, great swimmer and will eat anything...they've never had a niece/aunt combo and also my niece is mixed, black & white...we'd be an unusual pair and since I will be 50 in a month or so, I would qualify for the "older" part :)

During the first week of AR it is always hard to keep the teams straight. Didn't really notice the cheerleaders except when they were headed for the detour.

The language barrier made for interesting watching. Why is it that people think if you speak slowly or loudly that others will understand your English?

I am a big fan of TAR and thought this was the best start yet. Very tense.

I agree with all the comments except on the Ironman team. Her desperate desire to get him to love her... weird. He seems ok.

I too seem to like Duke and Daughter best so far. Arti and her husband were very likable and I was sorry to see them go.

I watched the show last night and liked it.

Sarah gave a lame excuse about 'preserving every drop of hydraulic fluid' in her prosthesis to claim the emergency with taxi. Note that it was not really needed because the BF already had a cab.

I am surprised that all of them actually made it over the wall. I would like to see a timer on the screen to get a clear idea of how long it actually took them.

DD is routing for the model/addicts and I for the father/daughter.

I hope the coal miner/wife make it a few more episodes. I loved how she screamed at him to SHUT UP and keep the encouragement to himself! The single moms definitely have character and determination.

"Do muslims belive in Budha?" OMG!!!LOL!!! Just when I get my hopes up regarding the general level of education, something like this comment comes up :(

Not a very good start. Two of my three favorite teams eliminated on the first night. Though the drug addicts might grow on me.

Wondered where you were Keith - so what's your favourite team that's still in?

Also, does anyone know what the process is for making the show - do they plan the race legs and then get the racers? Seems like unless there are two separate teams of producers - one that plans the show and one that selects the racers - the show could be really biased for/against the teams.

Enjoy-la!

The other team I lived at the start was the one with the woman with the artifical leg. They are athletic, smart, and I like the way the speak to each other.

There is no team that I hate. I didn't care for the southern couple that is so rude to each other, but it is clear that they do like each other. That is just the way they are.

I am not sure about the single moms. One of them is such a hater. Perhaps as she gets into her groove, she will mellow out.

The Kentucky team seems like they were created by Jeff Foxworthy for one of his monologues on rednecks.

I was sad to see Arti and her husband get knocked out. They seemed pretty cool. I was not sad to see the Muslim team go - their constant thanking of God was going to get on my nerves.

Everybody else - I haven't seen enough of them to have an impression.

Great start to the season, though I was sad to see the first two teams go. I wouldn't have minded the bickering couple being eliminated, though.

Not sure yet who I'm really rooting for - though the cheerleaders and their clapping has got to stop.

It's getting too Fear Factor-ish with eating weird stuff (oops, I mean delicacy). What will be next? Opening suitcases to see how much money they get for the next round? :)

For the most part, the food challenges on AR have not been extreme. Exceptions are the quantities they sometimes have to eat, particularly that time with all the meat in Africa a few races back.

The food challenge this week didn't look like much of anything. The least challenging one I recall was a modest sized pizza at Gino's. And there was still a team that found it challenging.

Some teams would be in agony if they each had to eat a dozen raw oysters.
