Alternate route to take from Springdale UT to Bryce Canyon NP

Looking for the best route to take from Zion to Bryce (because of road construction). We will be traveling during the week - We are leaving Zion on June 30 and traveling to Bryce. We have reservations at Bryce for July 1 and 2. With the restricted times allowed on Rt 89 - should we just avoid that road all together and take alternate routes? We are staying in Springdale (Desert Pearl Inn). My questions is: What is the best way to get from Sprindale UT to Bryce Canyon due to the construction?

Lots of recent discussion on this:

I opted for the safest (quickest?) route of going north to 20. No issues. It took 2.5 hours. Others might prefer a more scenic route/option.
