Alone in Orlando Area
I have to be out of my condo in Vero Beach 3 days before I fly home to Canada out of Orlando Airport. It will be mid November. Where can a single woman, fairly active, enjoy a few days (something unique and fun). I am married and DO NOT want a pick-up place.

Fellow Fodorite, thurstonbb, runs a B&B in nearby Maitland (a suburb of Orlando) called Thurston House <http://thurstonhouse.com/>. Since I live here, I have never stayed there, but I am very familiar with the area. You are literally minutes from Winter Park and a very short distance from the Orlando Airport. Check it out!

Check out Winter Park for a nice relaxing time. If you stay in Maitland it is very close by. Park Ave has lovely shops and of course a great park. There is the fantastic Morse Museum. Also a nice trip to Winter Park is never complete until you have done the Winter Park Scenic Boat tour.
If you are looking to stay in a resort in the more touristy area of town (I-Drive) you will be near the Dr.Phillips area on SandLake Rd. Here is our upscale Restaurant Row with Roys, Seasons 52, Christini's, etc. You could stay in convention hotel/resort in this area at a great rate in November as some days are particularly slow when no conventions are in town. (depends on the dates you are here)

What do you like to do? If you like antiques, Renninger's Antique show in Mt. Dora will be the third week end in November and offers lots to see, and perhaps some things you don't find in Canada. You can spend the day and get plenty of exercise. Safe, friendly. Not far from Winter Park either. Is that unique and fun?

Winter Park is fabulous as is Maitland, it's sister city. There are art museums, historical museums, great shopping, antiques, boat tour...wonderful and safe things as a lone traveler! Also, a short distance away is Leu Gardens...an absolutely wonderful place to stroll around for a few hours.
