Aloha Spirit-Kaua'i

a perfect example of aloha spirit....the other day my sister went to the hanalei post office to mail out something for a county job she applied for. she asked the postal worker to pray for her. despite the line growing behind my sister, the postal worker took my sister's hand, and laid both their hands on the envelope and the postal worker prayed out loud for a few minutes. everyone in line waited patiently. THIS WOULD NOT HAPPEN ON THE MAINLAND. one of the many many reasons i am finally moving to Kaua'i..most importantly to be near my sister. Nani O Kaua'i. And please please i pray the locals dont hate me! I am NOT a rich Californian coming in to bring property values even higher. I am an Emergency Room RN who will be doing my part to provide the best health care to all of the people of Kaua'i, residents and visitors. I just want to be near my sister who has lived there for 20 years and since she will never leave the island, not even to visit the mainland, i must join her there. Plus i want to see my nephew graduate high school!

p.s. if you love Kaua'i and the people of Kaua'i, support local music and go to:
http://www.nogrammy.com/

great songs and alot of references to the island...some very very local (e.g. song about Raymond, the park ranger)....but my favorite one is "Gimme Back My Slippahs" (and it talks about the five dollar slippahs bought at Big Save.......you just got to hear it.

Kaua'i is a place of mauli ola: the sacred essence of life (the breath of life). In ancient times it was considered to be the most sacred island in all the Pacific. Is it any wonder that you'd want to move there? Not to me, I'd be there in a heartbeat.
