Almost cross country

Hello everybody.
i am in Philly and my BF is in NJ.

As it happens that he doesn’t mind driving and we were talking about taking a road trip.

We just want to see beautiful USA scenery.

Any advice will be appreciated.

How long? Sticking to the East Coast, New England and the Hudson Valley come to mind, or the Blue Ridge Parkway to the Smoky Mountains National Park.

You have given us absolutely nothing to work with.

When? How many weeks? What sorts of things do you enjoy? You do a little work and fill in at least a few details and maybe we can help.

I don’t have this info yet.
All I want is not to drive for hours trough places where there is nothing to see.
and we enjoying beautiful scenery.

so I think I just don’t have anymore info. Sorry.

The west is out, as it will take more than a day to get there crossing the flat Midwest and Plains states.

Thank you.
I wish I liked parks.
ok. Please bare with me because this idea was just born and it seemed exciting yesterday. And today it doesn’t seem so exciting anymore.

I am hoping someone will give me something that I’ll say...EXACTLY! 👍

the ones with breathtaking views?

Out west, for the most part.

Much of the most breathtaking, beautiful scenery is IN the national parks, or along the coastline. So if you want that scenery, then some of our great parks is a good place to start.

The US is a big country with mountains and coastline on the east, mountains and coastline on the west, and a whole lotta flat land out there in the middle. Some of my favorite parks or natural scenery are out west, and include this list:

AZ: Grand Canyon
UT: Zion Canyon, Bryce Canyon
WY: Yellowstone & Grand Teton
CO: Rocky Mtn park
MT: Glacier Park
CA: Yosemite, the coastline between Santa Barbara and Monterey.

Seeing all of those in one road trip, with just you + one other person, on a limited budget is not feasibile.
If you tell us how much time and $ you have to spend we can help craft an itinerary for you.

If you tell us you have 1 week and $1000 total - then we're likely to recommend something from Michael's list.
If it's 1mo and $10,000, then it opens up your options.

It takes time and $ to get somewhere as well, so that needs to be factored in.
To get from Philly to somewhere out west will by air burn a whole day each way, and cost somewhere around $500 each person. Then you'd need a way to get around out there.
To get from Philly to somewhere out west by car will take a mininmum of 3-4 days, and may not cost that much less when you include gas, hotels & food. - but then you'd have a car to use at your destination.

I was wondering if some general information could be of interest:

Just to get a rough idea about the country, distances and major sights.
