All Girls Weekend

5 of my high school girlfriends are looking to spend a weekend together at a fun location in March 2007. We are in the planning phases and everybody is throwing out ideas but no plans have been made yet. So far we have:
Vegas
San Diego
Miami
LA

Any body have any other fun destinations? We are looking to spend a lot of time in good restaurants, perhaps some lounges, perhaps catch some shows. But I would not consider us hard-core partiers. There will be some inevitable all-girl partying, but probably not the focus of the trip :)

Thanks for your help!

I had success meeting friends in Vegas and doing all you mentioned a couple years ago.. I'm sure all the experienced posters will give more ideas on the other locations too. J.

How long are you going to have?

Vegas Baby....Our group of girlfriends have now been the 3 times in the last 3 years. There is something for everyone, if you feel the need to split up.
You can go to so many lounges, nightclubs, or just stay in the hotel...we had our own little party going at the Paris casino, gambling and drinking...
There are shows, and poolside, etc...I could go on and on!!!
Have fun

It depends on how much you enjoy gambling and alcohol. I personally would enjoy a girls' weekend in NYC or at a destination resort and spa over Vegas.

4 of us have been going on annual trips for years. Mostly we stay in the northeast but we've splurged a couple of times. Montreal was great. Our most recent splurge was New Orleans before Katrina. The restaurants were great, we enjoyed the New Orleans Cooking School, tour of a plantation, haunted tour at night, shopping. Vegas wouldn't work for us because two of us don't like to gamble and the other two could spend hours. I've only done a bus tour of LA and would never go there. San Diego was decent. Unfortunately, one year we tried five and that meant two cabs. Vegas has tons of shows which is good but not as much to do during the day if you don't want to gamble. Usually during the day we visit a museum or take a tour. It's a good idea to choose a city with something going on at night because it's more fun. We do our trips in September when the weather is good just about anyplace. From your list, I would choose Vegas but the trip planner needs to set up a basic schedule of things to do during the day that don't involve gambling or set a limit on the amount of time spent gambling. Shopping is not a good idea if the five of you have different tastes. One of my friends could spend the day in a bookstore.

4 of us women have been travelling for years! (20 years next year!) In fact, we leave for San Diego tomorrow, I'll try to remember to post when we're back next week. We've been to New York City 4 (or is it 5?) times, Chicago, San Francisco, New Orleans (long before Katrina), Boston, Charleston, Portland (Maine, for fall colors), Vancouver, Montreal & Quebec, London, Paris, All over Germany & Italy, so, there's some ideas for you! We always love love NYC, so much to do, plays, Central Park, all the other tourist attractions. I myself have never been to Vegas, other women in my group have, but, I may want to go there one day. Hope the weather is good in San Diego this weekend! I've never been to Miami (except to depart for a cruise). I was in LA w/my husband years ago,(didn't really see much, stuck in traffic a lot!) only spent a day, spent more time driving up the coast.
You can't go wrong w/NYC, or Boston or Chicago. Boston, walk the Freedom Trail, eat at great restaurants in the North End. Chicago, great restaurants & bars (fun bars at World Series time, we were there when the Cubs were in contention a few yrs ago, fun!) Chicago, great shopping too!
If you pick Vegas, let us know how you liked the trip!

Thanks for all your suggestions! A lot of my girlfriends are leaning towards Vegas. I just got back from Vegas last week and am all "Vegassed out" if that is possible. I have a preference to not go to Vegas, but I suppose majority rules! It is a really fun city. :)

Thanks for your suggestions - I am thinking an East Coast vacation might be fun!

What about Charleston or Miami?

I'm a big fan of Miami.

Do you want warm weather? I don't know about you, but sitting by the pool with tropical drinks is a must for our girlfriend getaways.

Vegas, San Diego and L.A. are not very warm in March. You would have to go to FL or the deserts of CA and AZ for warmth. Check out the "travel planner" function on: http://tinyurl.com/p8v23 You put in your desired temp. and month of travel and it will give you a list of destinations.

We've done Key West, Ft. Lauderdale and a 3-day Bahamas cruise out of Miami. Next year, my East Coast girlfriends are coming out west for a spa weekend in Palm Desert.

Have fun!
