Alexandria or Annapolis
 

I want to visit D.C. and the surrounding area this spring. I am trying to decide between staying in Alexandria or Annapolis. Does anybody have any input?

Well, for one thing, Alexandria is 15 minutes away from DC by car or public transportation. Annapolis is an hour away by car, or a combination of car and public transportation. Will you have a car? Both places are beautiful but personally I prefer Alexandria.

Annapolis is really quite far from DC, and there is no way you could effectively tour DC and it's suburbs (which include Alexandria)over several days from Annapolis, especially when you take the horrendous rush hour traffic around DC into account.

we loved annapolis! i would not try to see d.c. from there but worth a 1-2 day visit.naval academy tour is first rate.excellent restaurants and sights
