Alcatraz at night?

Has anyone taken the Alcatraz tour at night? Our friends want to do this tour instead of the day time tour. They heard somewhere it was better. I'm not so sure.

I'll be interested to see your responses. We are going to SF in April and Alcatraz is on the hitlist - I've heard the night tour is well worth it as the views are pretty spectacular.

Trying again. Anyone taken this tour?

We did it at night and it was fun. Never been during the day (and I'll bet most people haven't done both tours) so can't compare.

But do a search of this site. That's how I decided to do a night trip - based on info I had read here. I don't remember the plusses and minuses now, but you can find them easily using the search box at the top of the page.

Alcatraz was creepy enough during the day for me. During day trip we were able to do some walking down old paths, into outside alcoves, etc that would not have been readily accessible at night. Also, part of experience was seeing SF from Alcatraz - depending on time of year, fog might interfere with that at night.
