Alcatraz

Can anyone recommend a tour company to book with for Alcatraz?

I'm having difficulty trying to find a reputable company, for some reason, Blue & Gold website only goes up to end of May 2006.

I'm looking for August 2006

Blue and Gold is the company that runs the ferries to and from Alcatraz. I don't know why they aren't showing tours past May on the web site.

Hi AreYouSure. I doublechecked and yes the Blue & Gold website does only take reservations up to May 31st. You will have to wait a bit and try again. Don't worry, you will get reservations..just keep checking the website. Have fun in SF!!

I gotta add my two cents on the night tour w/ Blue and Gold...In a word "WONDERFUL"!!
My three kids (13, 12, 9), my mom and my hubby all did it and it was so much more than we expected.
During the tour it gets darker and darker and easier to imagine what it was like being there 24/7. At one point one of the guides slammed the doors to the isolation room! Everyone jumped a mile. Kids loved it. Also loved the self paced tour. They just plugged in their ear phones and away they went.
I was told that this tour books up the quickest so as soon as those rates come up...grab it.

AreYouSure, I think I know the answer as to why the Blue&Gold Reservations are available only until the end of May. In the SF Chronical today (www.sfgate.com) there is an article regarding the fact that the National Park Service is considering awarding the new contract to Hornblowers. SF City Hall is going to fight this as they say it will eliminate union jobs.

So again, you will have to take a "wait and see" approach as by August 06 the Blue&Gold many not even be operating the Alcatraz Tours.
