Albuquerque to Taos road trip

Hello! I am flying from Chicago to Albuquerque on Oct. 30 and driving to Taos for a 3 night stay. Does anyone have any exciting road trip ideas to share? Or things/places to see while we're there? I know it will be pretty chilly during that time, but this is the only time we can get away!

Yes, Turquoise Trail from Albuquerque to Santa Fe, and the "High Road" from there to Taos.

Any particular reason you chose Taos over Santa Fe?

Turquoise Trail one way, High Road (from Santa Fe) the other (a couple of 18th century churches along that way). If you go back to Alb. early, might not be too cold to walk one of the trails in Petroglyph National Monument and old town is pretty nice.
Do not miss Taos Pueblo, and the bridge over the gorge outside Taos is very dramatic. Bandolier is beautiful, as is Jemez Canyon.

Agree with all of the above. And just to further identify, the gorge outside Taos is the Rio Grande River and it's called the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge on Hwy 64 - definitely a must.

Thanks so much everyone! This will definitely help! Even though we only have 4 days/3 nights, we want to take in as much as we can, plus we'd like to hike a few trails (as long as there are no bobcats!!)

Beachbum - we chose Taos because we got a good flight/hotel deal. The hotel is El Monte Sagrado.
