Albuquerque to Sedona to LA
Taking a road trip with friends. Leaving Albuquerque on Sun morning, arriving in LA late Wed night or Thursday. Need suggestions for Sedona hotels and must see sights along the way. We try to keep our hotel price in the moderate range similar to a Hampton Inn. Thanks for your help.

Sights along the way:
Albuquerque-Sedona: - A main attraction is Acoma Pueblo, dramatic setting on a rock and one of the oldest pueblos at all. http://www.skycity.com/ - The next attraction is Petrified Forest Natl. Park. http://www.nps.gov/pefo/ Sedona-Los Angeles: - Between Sedona and Phoenix, you find Agua Fria Natl. Monument, but I am not sure if it is a worthy destination, since it is pretty undeveloped and more suitable for serious hiking. http://www.americansouthwest.net/ari..._monument.html - Joshua Tree Natl. Park. http://www.nps.gov/jotr/ |
You will more reasonable hotel choices in Flagstaff, an easy drive through a very scenic Oak Creek Canyon.
Rather than dropping down to Phoenix, you could consider I-40 out of Flagstaff to I-15 and then get I-10 into LA. A couple of possible sidetrips Laughlin, NV for its casinos on the Colorado River, Lake Havasu for the reconstructed London Bridge and the Calico Ghost town just outside of Barstow. |
Thanks.
