Albuquerque snow play area

Has anyone heard of or been to the Capulin Snow Play Area in the Sandia range near Albuquerque? (not the same as Capulin Volcano)

We are going to be in the area around New Years and wanted to know how good this place was for sledding. There is not much info online about it.

Thanks!

I don't know it personally, DH knows of it from when he lived in East Mountains. I have seen it driving to crest.

It really depends on the snow. Last year was good; this year is anyone's guess.

There is no snow yet. It has been very warm lately.

I know this isn't much help. You will have to play this by ear. The link I gave has a link to check conditions, so that might help.

The link for the status doesn't work - it may be seasonal. Here is Cibola link; you could contact ranger station thru it.

We've gone up there a few times. If there has been a good amount of snow, it will be fun. It's not anything fancy; you park, walk down the road and up to the play area, which is basically a big slope.

Thanks to you both for the information. I'll keep my fingers crossed for a white Christmas. And glad to hear it's nothing fancy ... that's what I'm looking for. Had a blast last New Years at a similar sounding snow play area in Cloudcroft, so I'm looking for more of the same.
