Albuquerque or Santa Fe?

My fiancee and I want to spend a few days out there, driving from west Texas. Which city do you prefer as far as scenery? We will probably be staying in a resort, so any recommendations for where to stay would be great also.
Thanks!

Santa Fe, definitely.

Oh yeah, Santa Fe all the way, baby.

Here'a another vote for Santa Fe. If you want you can take a day trip to Albuquerque but I wouldn't spend too much more time there. Take the tram to Scandia Peak for great views. As for Santa Fe you can easily occupy yourself for several days without ever leaving the Plaza/Canyon Road Area. There are lots of museums, old churches, art galleries, shops, restaurants, etc. You can also visit nearby Indian Pueblos, State Parks, drive through the mountains, visit Taos and other attractions.

Another vote for Santa Fe. I like Albuquerque, but it is more of a working city than a tourist city. There are some points of interest there, but Santa Fe is much more scenic and better for a vacation.

Absolutely Santa Fe with a side-trip to Taos...

I'd actually stay in Taos & day trip to Santa Fe. I usually spend a day in ABQ flying in or out & that is ample time to see the old town & do the Sandia Tram.

Yet another vote for Santa Fe. If you're looking for a "resort" check out places like La Posada, Inn at Loretto, or Inn of the Anasazi. But I think part of the charm of a stay in Santa Fe is better found in one of the several smaller inns.

Santa Fe is to Albequerque what San Francisco is to LA.

"Santa Fe is to Albequerque what San Francisco is to LA."

I would change LA to Oakland.

The only reason I would ever go to ABQ is if it was on my way to Santa Fe.

SANTA FE, BUT IT IS MUCH CHEAPER TO STAY IN TAOS AND GO TO SANTA FE FOR A DAY TRIP.

We're thinking of Santa Fe
for a quick spring break
trip and thought the Hilton
looked good (we're HHonor members)
Any thoughts? Anything better?
Thanks.

wanderluster, I do know that the Hilton is close to the plaza, which is good. I've never stayed there but I bet it would be great for that little getaway. arrgh, I'm getting jealous...
