Albuquerque - Cooking Classes??
 

I have been reading through posts here for an upcoming trip I'm planning, and have read some passing remarks about cooking classes in Albuquerque. The thing is, most of these posts are from a year or so ago, so I feel odd bumping the posts up. But I would like to know, as I can't seem to find anything - is this still true? And can anyone give a little more info? What are the classes like, where are they held, and how long?

I seem to recall a cooking school in delightful Santa Fe downtown area. It was on the second floor of a building near burro alley -- sorry I can't remmber the name but Santa Fe has many really nice restaurants in the area. It is an easy drive up and back from Albuquerque -- but you may consider staying in Santa Fe -- we visited in December -- weather was sunny, cool and crisp.

Thanks for the response! Actually, I will be incorporating a stay in Santa Fe as part of the trip. Not quite sure yet how long, but at least 2 - 3 days. I can start looking in Santa Fe as well!

Jane Butel's cooking school in Albuquerque has closed because the La Posada Hotel is undergoing renovations.

Ta Lin Market does cooking classes, but I don't know the schedule.

My sister and I went to the Santa Fe School of cooking on our first trip to Santa Fe. The class was instructional only but we enjoyed eating the food that was prepared and have made a few of the recipes upon returning home. The staff was pleasant. We would do it again.

Sraybob ~ the Santa Fe School of Cooking reminds me of the New Orleans School of Cooking. ("Students" watch the chef and then get to eat all the goodies while picking up some great tips and lessons) I did pick up some great stuff while in New Orleans and enjoyed the format, so am pleased to know there might be something like that in Santa Fe. Might have some difficulty getting my mother to go along, though. She is coming with me to New Mexico, but is not very adventurous with food and certainly not a fan of anything "spicey"!

I enjoyed the cooking class at Santa Fe School of Cooking on our trip last year. As previously mentioned, it is instructional (you watch, the chef cooks) but it was really informative, the food we tasted afterwards was delicious and I've tried to recreate the enchiladas at home. Lots of fun!
