I'm not sure if any of you are still checking this thread but I do have another question. I now have hotels squared away and have seen a lot of posts regarding restaurants and things to do - but my question is about car rental.
The rates for renting a car during our stay seem quite high (over $400) are there any other rental agencies or tips for more affordable rental? Or is this just the price that is standard during that time? Your help is appreciated. |
can't offer any help on this one - but perhaps you want to make a new posting titled 'hints for affordable car rental' or something similar so people knowledgeable about car rentals will see that in the title - but quite possibly could just be higher during that time b/c of the fiesta.

Do you belong to AAA or have a Costco membership? You might get a discount that way.

Thank you both. I did some searching around this site and some others and was able to use a discount code and at least get it down to the $300 range.
I will post another thread and see if anyone else has any ideas. Thanks again. |
I would try Priceline, I have had good luck with them.
Also, Rent A Wreck 504 Yale Blvd SE Albuquerque, NM 87106-5112 (505) 232-7552 it's near the airport. Hope this helps... Debi |
Hi lindsyb,
I know that I'm late on this thread, and it looks like you've got all of your answers. You've planned it well. My wife and I did this last year (3 night SFe (Inn of the Governors) , 2 night Taos (Fechin Inn), 2 night Albuquerque (Pyramid) ). I wrote a trip report here, I believe. Just a few notes: Pyramid is fine, but don't take their expensive shuttle bus. We actually walked to/from the park one night, but I don't necessarily advise this as the roads are BUSY. Just drive your rental car in, start early to avoid the traffic. Speaking of rentals .... I found that the major rentals almost double their normal prices for the fiesta. Do the best you can with that. Taos Pueblo is a must see .... also the drive in/out of Taos is amazing. Choose different routes if you can. The rooms at Fetchin Inn are very nice. I like SFe the best of all cities, for atmosphere, eating, and museums. Also there are some great day trips you can take from SFe. I loved Bandalier National Monument as I am a hiker. If you have any other questions, be sure to ask. |
I have to top/link this - I am going this year as well! I can't wait. (I have a balloon bug now that I went to Tuscany and did it there...)

Topping, 'cos I think I will go next year. :)
