Albany and snow

Hi, coming from Oz and spending a few days in Albany New York. We will be there mid December. How likely will it be that there will be snow on the ground for my little one to play with?

Thanks!

Snow would be possible but not probable in mid December.

That's kind of early for snow and Albany is just south of the true snow belt. It's perfectly possible there will be some - but more likely in Jan or Feb. If snow is that big a deal you might head N to VT and you would definitely have snow but it might well be manmade.

No, you should not expect snow on the ground in Albany mid December.

There are are few ski areas nearby where you could go to play.

Here's a kids place about 1hr north of Albany @ Lake Luzerne. Once the weather is cold enough they will make snow for downhill snow tubing.

There are a few other small ski areas closer, but not sure which ones have tubing and when they open. West Mtn, about 45min north of Albany usually has tubing but they have had financial difficulty and it's not certain they will open for this season

Willard Mtn is also abt 45min from Albany - another small ski area. All of these areas will make their own snow for tubing.
