alaska trip journal (web site w/ pics)
The question I most fear: "Do you want to see pictures from my trip?"
Despite my aversion to seeing snapshots from others' vacations, I have posted my own for all to see. If you are interested in seeing some pictures of Alaska, with a few comments here and there, please visit: http://homepages.nyu.edu/~crb241/alaska01.htm And thank you to everyone here who helped me plan my trip in the first place - I had an amazing time!! |
Great photos and I enjoyed your whimsical captions.
Just to update on your bear jitters and what you would do in an attack - remember, you don't have to outrun the bear - you just have to outrun whoever else is running too! |
Elgordo,
A trip report and photos in one - good idea! I loved the bears, the icebergs and glaciers (especially the 2nd view of Worthington Glacier) and the two of you playing with antlers :-) A good sense of humor is the main thing you need to pack when you're traveling. :-) Your last photo is wonderful. Thanks for posting. |
Those are great pictures! Thanks for sharing. I liked your sense of humor too. The otter eating the salmon is a terrific close-up shot.

I loved the pics, especially 'iceberg' and 'more ice, more silt'. They would make very good framed pictures. I like the comment about the beauty of Valdez and that you wished the pictures could capture what you were seeing. I had the same feeling while sitting on a porch looking down on the bay in Homer. One would just hope the picture could capture the euphoria one has at 'the moment' and you could save it for years.

Great photographs! The iceberg shots are beautiful. What kind of camera do you use? I loved my first trip to Alaska this summer and want to go back. The fall colors look amazing--I think my next trip there will have to be in the fall. Thanks for sharing the photos!

Hi everyone,
Thank you for the nice comments! dwoodon, That one cracked me up. I'll remember that next time. Florida1, I use a Sony Cybershot DSC-T1 and I'm REALLY happy with it. It's small enough to put in your pocket and the display screen is the biggest I've seen - about 2 inches high x 2 1/2 inches wide. It's great for someone who wants to just point and shoot. As for visiting in the fall, the colors WERE amazing. It rained about 75% of the time we were there, though, which is just something to keep in mind when you're planning your next trip. |
Your photos and trip report remind me why Alaska is my favorite place in the world to visit. Thanks for sharing.

Your marine animals are sea lions.

Excellent, just excellent.
Alaska is almost at the top of our *to see* list. Thanks very much for sharing with us, I'm going to start planning when we return from Portland! (don't understand why trip reports like this aren't always *TTT*)?? |
These were great & I love your sense of humor! I've always thought about visting Alaska & these pictures are making me think about this sooner rather than later.
Thanks for sharing! |
Wow elgordo... Bravo! Looks like you both had a great time. Thanks for sharing. Excellent work.
