Alaska -Our FIRST trip!!

My husband and I are visiting Alaska in the first week of August. Our main aim to see as much as possible. We fly into Anchorage. I would like to know how we could spend about 7 days there. I heard the must sees are the Glaciers,Denali National Park and a day cruise. We haven't yet booked the car and hotels as a friend suggested that since we have a flexible schedule, we could do that once we reach there. We would like to go for a day cruise. Which one do you think is good for one day? What could be the approximate cost of the same? Also, how many days should we spend in each place?

Sorry- Too many questions!! Our first long trip you see:)

Thank You!!

I don't buy the flexible schedule thing. That's one of the busiest touring times of the year in Alaska. I'd have my accommodations booked. And a rough itinerary. Flightseeing and other tours should be booked as well. We traveled to the southeast region of Alaska last August and loved it. Have a great time! (In that area, I'd go to the Kenai Peninsula for a few days and maybe try to go watch the bears...)

For starters, I topped "Alaska Top-10 To Dos" for you to read. LOTS of great ideas in that thread.

Book your car NOW--they will only get more expensive and less will be available the longer you wait.

On this website, highlight Alaska in the state search box, and type in Kenai Fjords and/or 26 Glacier boat tours in the empty search box.

Also, go to a search engine, like google, and search places you are interested in visiting in order to learn more. Order their brochures, too.

Good luck with your planning!

By "in that area", I mean within touring distance of Anchorage...
