Alaska-Just back short trip report

We just got back tonight. Here is a brief overview of our trip. A detailed report will follow.

We flew Alaska Air out of Boston on June 24 to Anchorage with a very short stop in Seattle and returned home tonight July 4.

These are some of the things we did:

Bear Viewing with Emerald Air.
Kenai Fjords National Park Cruise w/Renown.
Exit Glacier.
Ididaride at Seaveys.
Flightseeing and glacier landing w/ Talkeetna Air Taxi.
Denali Natl Park-shuttle to Fish Creek.
Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center.

Wished we had:
Done some fishing....

Logged 1604 miles on the rental car.
Gas prices ran from $2.94 in Anc to $3.40 in Cantwell.

Temps ranged from 36 one morning at Summit Lake to the 70's in Talkeetna and Denali.

Where we stayed:
Northern Comfort B & B in Girdwood 1 night
Halcyon Heights B & B in Homer 2 nights
Bear Creek Cabins in Seward 2 nights
Talkeetna Chalet B & B in Talkeetna 1 night
Lakeview Inn Healy 2 nights
Courtyard Marriot Anchorage 2 nights, (actually 1 and 1/2 as our flight left at 3am)

We just had so much fun. Saw lots of wildlife and had many good meals. And took tons of pics. Will elaborate later.

Awesome vacation!!!

Kristine-
Lakeview Inn was great. We had just that, a beautiful view of the lake. We stayed in The Purple Caribou room. King bed, private deck. The bed was so comfy after a long day. Breakfast provided for the 2 of us consisted of an apple, 2 slices of bread ,a muffin, 3 small pieces of cantelope and a handful of grapes all neatly wrapped on a platter in the fridge. There were also 4 small boxes of cereal and 4 envelopes of instant oatmeal. 2 cartons of 2% milk and 2 small containers of juice. The apple and grapes joined us on our trip through the park. There are also cans of coffee, reg and decaf for you to brew along with packs of hot choc and tea. There is no official checkin, you just locate your welcome card on the memo board at the front door. It has directions to your room and a reminder to take off your shoes before walking on the carpet. We liked the fact that the entire property is smoke free, not just the building.
Have a great trip,
Cherie

Great report. We leave on July 28 for 2 wks. - can't wait.
We choose not to do the bearviewing w/Emerald Air. We felt it was too expensive. Any comments?
We didn't know which Ididaride to do. Where is Seaveys? We'll be in Homer, Seward and up to Denali.(actually Healy - staying at Touch of Wilderness)
