Alaska Info
Am planning on taking a cruise in Alaska in September.
Realize that it will be rather cold but it is the only time I can fit it into my schedule. The cruise will go from Vancouver to Seward. Rather than fly back from Seward, I would like to come back to Vancouver by train if possible. Would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks. |
Going to Alaska in September is actually quite a nice time of year (i live in the Queen Charlotte Islands, below panhandle). Most years the weather up this way is very nice in Sept/early Oct, probably high 60's,mid 70's for high, but starting to get cool at nights. Less tourist traffic then & you still get long daylight hours.
There are no trains from Alaska however. There is an Alaska Marine Ferry system that goes from Alaska to Prince Rupert,B.C, then you could catch a Via Rail train to Prince George & transfer to BC Rail train which will take you to Vancouver. |
I was just in Seward last Oct. It was chilly, but beautiful. You should still see lots of wildlife and Seward is a great little town. Make sure you try the bakery in town. Great soups to warm you. You should take raingear and a warm Fall coat. Or a heavy sweater. Out on the water gets chilly. Have fun.
