Alaska in late august

Hi buddies,

I am thinking of a trip to South Central Alaska in late August. Is it too late to make reservations for hotels,Denali park shuttle, cruises etc? Any pointers in what sequence I need to proceed (like booking shuttle first etc.). Also, what can I expect weatherwise and how many hours of daylight in Denali/Anchorage areas?

Thanks much

This is my most traveled time in Alaska. Mild temps decent daylight 9pm or later. No it is not too late to plan a trip. :)

We spent 12-28 August in Kenai Peninsula and the area north to Anchorage (Wasilla - Denali). Weather was great eveywhere and we could even dip in the lakes. Had 2 days of rain only and it seems we experienced less tourists. On most day hikes (we travelled with kids) we saw very little crowd. Have fun.

We were in Alaska for three weeks, late August, early September. Perfect.
