I'm sure Denali is great, but my point was that it was not a must see to have a wonderful time in Alaska. Both offer hiking, glaciers, wildlife and lots of head turning scenery.

Either destination can be the setting for a wonderful trip. Kenai though, is a lot more convenient to combine with a cruise, especially when time is limited.

You are not going to go wrong with an AK adventure. No matter what you choose it will be great. With your desire to be active and see/do a lot, I'd recommend a land trip with a rental vehicle. Nearly 24 hours a day are available for you do activities and I like to keep my feet on the ground and be in control of everything and also have the option to change my plans if I choose to.

If you are at 7 days, then travelers typically fly into Anchorage, travel south to Seward, north to Denali and points in between. If you have 10 days, then you can add Homer, Valdez, or Fairbanks.

Here's a google map link that shows a sample of the road you might drive on a 10-day trip: . just delete Homer if you've only 7 days.

Remember you have a limited amount of time and cannot see it all. Don't try and see as many places as possible (because things are far apart up here and you can spend all of your time just on the highway). Take some time and read this link ( ) which lists a bunch of great AK activities in the Girdwood/Portage/Whittier area (many free or very economical).

Good luck
