alaska excursions

i am going to Alaska in August and trying to decide if the dog sled and glacier adventure by helicopter tour is worth the $579. i certainly don't want to ride a dog sled on wheels for less money. or should i just do the helicoper glacier walkabout for $389. these are both out of Juneau. thanks for your help.

I did the helicopter glacier walkabout for much less than 389. Where are you getting these high prices? Are they for more than one person?

this is the price for the princess tours. i am going on a cruise and land tour with princess lines.

There are several independent options which can have cost savings. All well run long standing companies.

Hopefully, you understand fully everything about your cruisetour?? So many people do not. If you don't know- if your priority is for wildlife and scenery in Denali Park, be certain you do not have the Natural History tour, a waste of time and definately shortchanging yourself.

Budget 50% more for meals than you would at home. And if taking the train, be prepared for the table seating of 4 and 2 riding backward the entire trip.

Montereybob, where did you go for cheaper? We did the helicopter landing on the glacier and walking for $380.00 pp from Coastal Helicopers in Juneau and it was fantastic, one of our best memories! http://coastalhelicopters.com/

P.S. Coastals dog sled tour is much cheaper. $450.00pp Knowing how much we loved the walkaround, for the difference in price, I think I would take their dog sled tour.
