Alaska cities: Sitka, Wrangell

We are on a cruise and have a day in each city. Any suggestions?

Both are very small and rainy towns. There are activity kiosks selling tours by the dock. They will suggest something.

We loved Sitka. It was our favorite stop while on our Alaskan cruise. It is a lovely little town. I really don't have anything to recommend. We just walked around the town, took in a local dance show at the community center and had a hot dog on the street. We were there on a nice, sunny day and we enjoyed it very much.

We were in Sitka for a couple of days; we liked the Russian Bishop's House, St. Michael's Cathedral, Sheldon Jackson Museum, the National Historical Park, the semi-submersible boat ride, and another boat ride to view wildlife.

We only stopped in Wrangell for a couple of hours when we were on the Marine Highway ferry, so just had time to walk to the Petroglyph Beach.

In Sitka, we enjoyed the Alaska Raptor Center http://www.alaskaraptor.org

Sitka is an adorable little town. I beleive that is where the park is with all the totem poles. Be sure to check that out (unless I have my towns mixed up!)
