Alaska: a beginner's how to guide

All - I have written up a recent trip to Alaska in article form to help the next person who's planning a similar trip. It includes advice on budgeting, route, ferries, camping and anything else I thought was either (a) useful, (b) funny, or (c) both.

Read it here: http://helen4ian.blogspot.com/2011/0...lf-behind.html

I also wrote these more esoteric (read less useful and slightly weirder) articles whilst we were up in Alaska:

http://helen4ian.blogspot.com/2011/0...m-catcher.html
http://helen4ian.blogspot.com/2011/0...get-lucky.html

Thanks again. Ian

I loved the article. We recently did the cruise thing and everything you said was true IMO. Next time we'll take your advice.

Next time for you, do go to Denali NP, it is fantastic.

Thanks for the report.

I'm loving your reports. I take it you're still on your adventure? Definitely try to get to Denali the next time.

Have you had to resort to Plan B to replenish your depleted coffers??

Thanks folks! Yes, it was daft of us not to go to Denali NP, especially as we went to Chena Hot Springs instead. More reason to go back though.

Sharona - yep, still on the adventure, but haven't had to resort to plan B. Yet.
