Wow, Oleg! Wonderful photos. Looks like you had a fabulous trip!

When were you there?
What kind of camera did you use?
How can I order the beautiful sunny days you enjoyed?

Thanks for sharing!

oleg Aug 24th, 2006 07:44 AM

I had no sunny days, SpeedBuggy. I saw the sun may be 2-3 hours out of 10 days.
It was raining ceaselessly and George Parks Hwy became flooded between Talkeetna & Anchorage on August 19.
On that day, I had to drive back from Denali to Anchorage to fly home. I called my airline, re-booked the returning flight from Fairbanks to NYC, and drove to FB instead of Anchorage.
Despite of the rain I had one of the best vacations in my life. If not the best.
I used Panasonic FZ10.

SpeedBuggy Aug 24th, 2006 07:50 AM

Well, I have to tell you Oleg, when we were at Denali it was rainy but the low clouds and fog kept visibility to a minimum. I was certainly surprised to hear that you had rainy days considering your beautiful photos. Is that Denali with the red of the setting sun on its face?

oleg Aug 24th, 2006 08:08 AM

Yes, it is Denali and Otto Lake (near Healy). Sun peeked thru the clouds for about 20-30 min here and there between 7 pm and 9 pm. Since I spent 5 days there and by day 3 I already new the 'pattern' and had my camera ready.
I had the evening Camper bus to Polychrom Pass at 5 pm. And Aug 17 we were returning from Wonder Lake 11 hrs ride when I took pics of the Pass again.
Also, I took some pics from the porch of my room at Denali Lakeview Inn (Otto Lake).

SpeedBuggy Aug 24th, 2006 08:13 AM

Didn't you enjoy Denali Lakeview? We stayed there, too. Loved the sounds of the loons. We watched a moose and twins every evening.

You certainly got the timing down then, to get those shots in such weather. Thank you so much for sharing your photos. It's hard not to fall in love with Alaska, isn't it?

oleg Aug 24th, 2006 08:19 AM

Agree.
I don't see my message on Alaska forum. I can only find it when I do the search on 'oleg'. Where did I post?

SpeedBuggy Aug 24th, 2006 08:21 AM

It's just in the general US forum. They all go there. You have to highlight the state when you are starting a new thread so it'll so up when that state is searched.

I hope you'll repost it so it'll come up under Alaska. Your photos need to be shared and will help a lot of vacation planners.

oleg Aug 24th, 2006 08:31 AM

You are right. I just reposted on Alaska forum. I had forgotten to highlight the state.
Thanks.

Oleg: Really enjoyed the photos, could you post a short TR, please? Interested in your itinerary.

OMG! Can I hug you, please? Those pics are absolutely breathtaking!

Are you a pro photographer? What kind of camera did you use?
