ALAMO(Miami Airport)

I keep reading all the horror stories about Alamo in Florida. Can anyone share their experiences with me renting from this agency at this location. I got a great deal, I do not want to be naive and end up paying more for renting for the five days. Please any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a million

Did it once, NEVER again. One+ hour line out the door, then they gave us the wrong keys so that when we walked to the car we couldn't get in and had to go back to the office and fight our way through the long line (no way were we going to wait again) with everyone thinking we were cutting! THEN, they somehow "lost" our car after we returned it and kept calling our home telling us to bring it back! They finalyy "found" it with a lot more mileage on it than when we dropped it off. Hmmm. It took a long time, despite our receipt, to get the mess straightened out. Pay a little more and go with another company.

We rented a car by Avis and everything was more than ok!

My experience was similar to Jackie's. It took forever for a shuttle bus to pick us up ... so long that I feared that we were in the wrong airport (referenced on the confirmation as Miami-Key Biscayne Airport instead of Miami International)and actually called Alamo to confirm that we were in the right place. Then there was the chaotic 45 minute wait in line, resulting from the fact (among other reasons) that Alamo services walk-up customers in the same line as those with pre-arranged reservations. The walk-ups, of which there appear to be many, take much longer to process than customers with reservations. All told, it took us the better part of 90 minutes to get our car. Returing the car was equally chaotic, with crowds of people waiting for buses.

On the plus side, we got a Sebring convertible, which was in great shape and at a tremendous price.

I also had trouble with Alamo, but in Orlando, same scenario of long lines, etc.
The best piece of advice I have is to bring a printout of your rental price/agreement. (If you made reservations over the phone, have them fax or mail it to you) The counterperson refused to give me the price I had been quoted at the 800 number. After returning home (and fuming the entire week of vacation) I eventually got it straightened out.
