Alamo @ MCO

I have read numerous complaints/negative responses re Alamo at Orlando Int'l Airport. Did anyone use them recently? Any improvements? Would you pay a few extra $$$ to rent with Dollar instead?
Bryan,

Go with Dollar. Unlike Alamo, they're at the airport; you won't have to deal with a shuttle.

Although I have not used alamo at MCO recently (summer of '01), my experiences there have been horrid. I'm going back to orlando in december and coincidently i have my reservation with dollar. Never used dollar before but im sure its better than alamo.

We did Dollar at MCO over the Labor Day weekend. Definitely go with Dollar - on-site - no shuttle bus!!

Also, check mousesavers.com for discounts.

We rented a convertible at Alamo in June 2001 and didn't have a single problem. They also have plenty of shuttles to get you to the agency and it isn't that far away, you just don't want to walk it. Everyone has a different expierence.

We've rented from Alamo at Orlando for years and never had a problem - sometimes it actually seems easier to drop the car off a little way from the airport, less hustle and bustle.

We have used Alamo in Orlando. But prefer the rental places at the airport. We've used Avis and Budget. The only problem with Alamo is you have to take the shuttle bus to the airport. Which means dragging your luggage on the bus, finding seats, etc...
It's probably a 10-15 minute bus ride from the airport. I prefer renting the car right at the airport. Right downstairs. If you have an entertainment book they have car rental coupons you can use if you'd like to rent from the airport. I believe National and Enterprise, and Dollar are located inside the airport.
Thanks for your replies.

I currently have reservations with Alamo ($35/day) and Dollar ($42/day) for an SUV. I'm still trying to figure if $7/day is worth it :-)

Alamo is run by crooks. Avoid them at all costs.
