Alameda/Oakland Ferry

We are driving from Oregon to Stanford to see a football game on Oct 1. We will be staying in Fairfield on Thursday night which gives us all day Friday to drive to Stanford. We were thinking about going to San Francisco. We are considering riding either the Oakland or the Alameda ferry into San Francisco so we can avoid the traffic. Can you get parking at either the Oakland or Alameda Ferry terminals? Is it safe to park your car at either of the terminal's parking area's (we will have a car load of luggage). Or would it be better to drive into San Francisco and try to find parking there? How much is parking in San Francisco? We will probably be going to the Fisherman's Wharf area to see some ships. Any help would be appreciated

Thank you for the response. I guess my main question is how safe are the ferry terminals at either Oakland or Alameda?

Ferry is easy. Parking's a snap. Oakland parking site is quite safe. I would, however, consider Alameda's parking a bit safer than Oakland... So if you're worried, park there.

Of course, never leave anything visible in the car, Oakland, Alameda or San Francisco.

p.s I lived in Alameda now. I've lived in Oakland in the past. Alameda's just a small island town. Oakland's a big city.

Again, good info for another query, but this post is 7 years old!
