Aladdin Hotel New York a "hellhole of crime"
For those looking for a bargain hotel in NYC - do NOT stay at this one (as some unsuspecting european package travelers have). On west 45th St the SRO (single room occupancy hotel - ie for city welfare recipients) is a hotbed of prostitution and drugs - but is also renting rooms to european tourists on budget package deals.
Other criminal activities are conducted there and staff have been caught carrying guns.
The city is now suing management and attempting to close it down.
And yes - the hotel is listed on several of the major hotel/travel web sites, including kayak and travelocity.
NYC travelers should beware.
