Gulf shores and Orange beach are both nice. I don't think a great deal cheaper last time I priced it.

Lots go from here but because its shorter drive. In the past the water hasn't been so clear, we went every year when the kids were little.

Alabama just has a short stretch around Mobile. Try around Biloxi MS. There are new hotels and casinos around Biloxi since Katrina spoiled the originals.

Biloxi is underwhelming, but Gulf Shores and Orange Beach are every bit as soft and white as the the beaches near Destin and the rest of the Florida Panhandle and are, in my opinion, miles above anything in south Florida. Better than most Caribbean islands, to be honest.

Skip Biloxi, unless want to go to art museums and casino. Water is not pretty.

Navarre is our favorite.
