airport food in DFW?

Does anyone know of a decent place to have dinner in the DFW airport? Texmex would be great, but we are open to other options. We have a 2+ hour layover.
Thanks

There are several good food options at the airport, particularly in the American Airlines terminal. There is a TexMex restaurant there, I just can't think of the name of it. There's also a TGIF restaurantin this terminal (American Airlines terminal is A and C (I think)

Run over to the new Terminal D. There are several GREAT restaurants in there! Blue Mesa, Cantina Laredo, and Riata all have some Tex-Mex on their menus.

I wouldn't advise leaving the airport unless you have 3+ hours.

Blue Bamboo Xpress at D31 is pretty good, but if depends a bit on who is working that day.

your issue with your 2 hour plus layover at DFW brings up another concern. Everyone I know, almost has a lengthy layover at DFW. Granted, it is one of the busier airports in the U.S. With that being said, Its logical to assume the FAA is possibly considering building a new international airport within the DFW area to relieve a lot of the traffic at DFW. This of course would also shorten layovers at DFW, among other things. I'd say within about 10 years, there will be 2 international airports that service the DFW area. DFW and possibly one in Plano, which currently has a population of about a quarter million and is steadily growing.

Ontario International Airport was built to relieve a lot of the congestion at LAX, and for the burgeoning populous of San Bernadino/Riverside/Ontario.

I had some good BBQ and a beer at DFW....was it Dickie's or Cousins??? I flew Delta into the airport and Sun Country out of DFW...

seattlescuba - You must be kidding me. DFW doesn't have a congestion problem right now. With 7 runways, and DL closing its hubs, there's absolutely no need to build another airport. There's also still land to build Terminal F.

In fact, the worry is that more operation is going to Love Field.

terminals are one thing, airstrips are another.

Terminal D is practically a ghost town at times.A FA friend said that AA is moving some flights from Terminals A and C to Terminal D because many of the concessionaires @ D are unhappy and some have even closed due to lack of passenger traffic.I came into DFW on Saturday @12.30 into D and it was pleasantly uncrowded.

rkkwan Mar 1st, 2006 06:38 AM

The real ghost town is E. All those closed DL gates and food places.

With a 2+ hour layover and the Skylink tram, I would definitely take a look around Terminal D. Completely new and very pleasant, with a lot of great dining and shopping options (by airport standards, of course)

Thanks everyone. Sounds like terminal D is the place to go.

BeachBoi Mar 1st, 2006 07:06 AM

According to the Dallas Morning Newstoday, the only part of Terminal D to avoid is the parking Garage.I havent parked there so I have no personal experience. But Board Members were hearing numerous complaints that it took forever to get out of the garage.Seems the signage is not placed so you can see it properly, among other things.

It's Dickie's BBQ. Great place to grab a brisket sandwich and a beer and sit in the window and people watch.
