Somewhere out there, is a mad scientist/inventor, putting the final touches on his Travel Condom.
You will soon be able to enter any airplane/airport/bathroom and be safe from all germs.
Of course, you will have to take a test and pass some mental stability tests and they want to be sure you have a large enough ego to be able to walk around looking like that...but think of what ease of mind one will have!!
I personally am saving my money for my own plane.

If you're going to worry about the airplane seat, let me remind you to be sure and close your eyes and hold your breath while flushing the 'facilities' as 'they say' the force of the swirl just sends all that stuff up into your face....and wear your gloves while opening the door to exit!:-o)))

OSB...re the flush and germs. <i>Remember</i> that thread? I laughed until tears rolled down my cheeks at it and the image of fecal matter shooting 20 feet into the air with the flush of a toilet. There are people who believe this sort of thing and how they function in the real world is beyond me!

For those who are really worried how about purchasing at a medical supply store the &quot;hot suits&quot; that doctors wear when tending immune compromised patients - I would love to see a passenger arrive in those blue booties, the &quot;johnnie&quot; that covers their body, a face mask and blue shower type cap. - but then, do they wear them to museums? for the back seats of city cabs? on the subway? the doctors office? ....talk about a potentially germy environment...
walking down the street? these germs know no boundaries, they are everywhere.....how have we lived so long?

As far as toilet seats, look at it as exercise, use those leg muscles and poise yourself above the seat - of course, you can cover the seat with a protective cover or layer of toilet paper when in a pinch -

or, you could do what we recently found out what my cousin did as a child - her mother had always taught her to first cover toilet seats with toilet paper - what she recently found out was she then thought she was supposed to use the same toilet paper to wipe with afterwards - and she is still alive to tell the tale !

I was having a pleasant Fodors day until I read the thread you posted a link to. I'm really grossed out now. Not at the thought of germs, but at the thought of so many people fearful of living life in modern society.

This airplane seat covers topics is tame compared to that one.

I woke up this morning thinking about Scarlett's condom idea, picturing what someone would look like dressed in one. Sort of like Chiquita Banana in a see-through outfit? Would you have to be thin? O2 supply?? What would it do to your hair? Can you get into it by yourself? Judging from some of the threads, this is a marketable idea! LOL

Then later, we were downtown and there was this man crossing a busy street, stuck in the middle. He was carrying an open umbrella (no rain in sight), wore one of those clear plastic rain hats that tie under your chin (how long has it been since you've seen one of those?), had a clear plastic wrap coat-like affair around his top two thirds and wore mid-calf high rubber boots. My husband commented, &quot;What do you suppose he was all about&quot; and I replied he'd probably just got off some flight. LOL My husband then looked at <i>me</i> as if <i>I</i> were the crazy one. So, I said &quot;Fodors&quot; and he rolled his eyes, knowing better than to ask.

do you think they sold out? :) Kswl: I couldn't resist after this thread looking at the travel seat covers, my husband and I were getting a lot of giggles from this thread and what's actually available on the web - so here's one for your friends instead - they actually have ultra mini air supply packs that go around your neck so you have bursts of fresh air - geez, we're in the wrong business.....

escargot--There is a teacher at the elementary school that wears one of those air things around her neck. Of course I knew her in college and she annoyed me then, so now I just giggle to myself about it:D

mms, maybe the problem is the annoying teacher is getting too much oxygen - in school?, really now, I can only imagine how she explains that one to the kids - as in the air is not good for me to breath, but ok for you? geez....
