Airline Security - Disposable Rezors
Flying out of JFK. Does Security confiscate disposable razors in carry on luggage? What should I leave out of my toiletry bag that could be confiscated?
|
Disposable razors are fine.
|
I think the only razors that would be a problem are straight razors and those individual razor blades you buy at the hardware store.
|
What will (or maybe) confiscated depending on the TSA's mood:
swiss army knifes, straight razors, scissors of any kind tweezers, safety pins, metal nail files...you get the idea. I cannot travel without my tweezers, so I pack them in my checked baggage. Security is not as thorough as it was in the weeks following 9/11. They might let these things go by, but I do not take the chance as it is a real pain in the neck. For instance, sometimes I have to remove my shoes, sometimes I do not....go figure! I think if you go to the airlines website you will get guidelines on what is allowed and what is not. |
Tweezers are now allowed thankfully.:)

Safety razors (including disposable razors) are allowed by TSA.
http://www.tsa.gov/public/display?theme=183&content=09000519800720a4 I have printed these lists to show to the security agents. Whether this will persuade some agent who simply wants to show his/her power and is too stupid to accept the law is another matter. If I were turned down, I would ask to see a supervisor. ((C)) |
