airline procedure question

This is one of those situations where RT is $300 cheaper than a one way, but we only need a one way.

We live in Michigan and need a flight back from NY to Michigan. I was going to book a RT NY-MI, and just not use the return to NY. Does that open up any consequences with the airline that I might be missing?

No issue, unless you do this frequently.

I wouldnt tell anyone at the airline that I was doing this...They like to think that they are the only ones who can break their rules, not the travellers.

Hi ilana, I agree, don't mention it to any airline employee. Just don't show up for your "return" flight to NYC.

I had someone do this with an European flight. Nothing happened.
I would imagine if this was a constant "habit" there could be a problem but not for just one incident. Best wishes.
