airfare to big island?

Help!

Never been to Hawaii. Good friend just announced she is getting married there in November and I'm trying to decide whether or not we'll go.

We'd be flying from Portland, OR and so far it looks like airfare is about $800-900. Is this about right? It seems high to me, but I've never been.

Thanks in advance!

sks - Try airtohawaii.com. I recently booked with them for a Hawiian Air flight and saved $250 over the Hawaiian Air internet price.

That is high. November is usually between $450-600, and even less early in the month. Are you going Thanksgiving weekend? Try booking a day earlier.

Hawaiian Airlines is definitely the way to Hawaii- it has the only non-stop flight and you arrive mid-day.

Hawaiian Air has revamped their website -- and they supposedly offer the lowest fares to web visitors (rather than to Priceline, etc., or travel agents):

Play with your travel dates, if you can -- mid-week flights are usually cheaper than weekends.

Thank you for all the advice! I tried airtohawaii.com and they are definitly less $ than hawaiian air.

Still deciding..... :)

Unless you are going Thanksgiving weekend, you will most likely see a significant price drop for November travel from Portland to Hawaii, probably in September. I've flown PDX to the Big Island twice, both times in February, and never paid close to $800!
