airco needed in June in San Francisco?
 

Am looking for sharp rates for Union Square hotels, preferably St. Francis, but very expensive, found now Chancellor Hotel, but no airco, should that be a problem in June?

I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want an un-airconditioned room in the middle of the city in June. Not that it's that hot, but I couldn't sleep with the windows open and I'd die from the stuffiness with them closed.
What about the Florence? Is that air conditioned? Lots of people rave about it for a lower priced hotel.

SF is typically not hot enough to need a/c. Are you able to open the windows at the Chancellor? They may have ceiling fans or those fans connected to the window. You may want to call the hotel and ask.

I live in San Francisco, and don't know anybody who has an air conditioner in the city. The hot California is outside, the city, especially at night, is rather cool. Make sure bring a windbreaker if you plan on walking the bridge.

I often stay at the Villa Florence and I honestly do not know if they have air conditioning or not as I have never needed air conditioning in SF. But I always sleep with a window open as city noises do not keep me awake. Actually complete silence keeps me awake for some reason.

Anyway, I would think any hotel's website would show whether they have air conditioning.

Just like everyone has said, it rarely gets hot enough in the city for anyone to have A/C. This concept is really hard for people who live in areas with hot summers to believe, but fortunately or unfortunately, it is true.

I don't know anyone in SF who has air conditioning either. I live 15 miles south, and neither me nor any of our neighbors have AC.

I've lived in SF or in San Mateo for over 30 years, and I've never needed AC at night - especially in The City.

Air conditioning, what's that? another SF resident asks. In June I have put on the heat at night when the fog rolls in. That being said we do actually have two or three nights (maybe as many as four) per year when it can actually be warm or even hot at night--but I don't recall that ever happening in June.

From another SF resident -- you're more likely to need heat than air conditioning in June. That said, there are rare heat spells that occur in the summer, but I also don't recall them ever being in June. I don't have air conditioning in my home, and in the last 6 years I can recall perhaps 2 occasions when it was warm enough to miss it. FYI -- you can often get a good deal on a 4-star Union Square hotel using Priceline.com.

I guess I'm in a minority. I understand not having AC in a house particularly in a residential neighborhood, but not in a hotel on a very busy street downtown. I've stayed in a variety of hotels in San Francisco, and trust me I've been glad to have AC, rather than open windows and tons of traffic noise.

Stayed at the Chancellor last month. No a/c. Not needed, actually, at any time of year. The window was allowed to open about 4 inches. Ask for an "inside" room...therefore no street noises.

Go to hotelres.com which specializes in San Francisco and the Silicon Valley. Ask for Union Square area.

Only one of the places I've stayed at in the city (I just counted: total of 7), had air conditioning. Ans we didn't even need it. That was in October, which is more likely to be warmer than in June. I've stayed in the months of Feb, June, August, September, October and November.
