airbnb - any experience?
I'm looking for a one night stay in NYC and I see several desireable looking places on the website airbnb. Any experience?
|
I have used airbnb twice - once in San Francisco last October and just last week in Hilo. Both were great experiences. We rented an entire apt, not just a room. Since each listing is independent, it is hard to say that a specific place is ok. Read the reviews and remember, if it is too good to be true...
Keep in mind that airbnb only brings interested parties together; they are not rental agents. They do have some things in place in case the accommodation isn't what was listed, but that won't help if you get to the place and you have no where else to go. |
Good point, nukesafe. I hope that poster who did not get the original apartment through airbnb posted an accurate, critical review and that the owner suffered the ...
http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/...anyo...l-Paris_Ile_de... MANY complaints on the boards especially goood poster Nukesafe luck of the draw also lawsuits pretty much hit or miss. Some good to be fair like Debit's good experience above. For similar money starhotelny.com twizi.com NYC parksavoyhotel.com all better choices for me. best for me if you can go around $100 for a central 3 star and above betterbidding.com bid priceline.com Roosevelt $80 win for me couple of years back. Good luck! |
There is a very long thread if you search below - with a lot or pros but also a lot of cons - and you need to realize that this is not a commercial operation (like hotel discount sites)and there are no guarantees of what you will find when you get there.
You must do your due diligence and check for any reviews/complaints. |
Thanks, all. Good advice. I'm still checking.
