air boat tours around Ft. Lauderdale
I want to take our grandchildren on an air boat ride in an open boat. Which parks are desireable. Children are 14 and 12.

If you're thinking of taking an air boat tour within Everglades National Park, forget it.
These thrill rides are so noisy for animal life, and so destructive to plant life, that they have been banned within the park for years. I was not able to find any state park that permits fast speeds on these devices, either. You'll have to amuse yourself on privately owned land. |
Hmm, we did an airboat tour after our cruise years ago - killing time before our flight left. So I checked Carnival's website, and they still offer it.
Looks like they use this company - website states they do offer airboat rides through the Park. http://www.evergladessafaripark.com/ |
Here's the official word:
http://www.nps.gov/ever/faqs.htm The only place you can take a thrill ride into the Park itself is in the portion added in 1989. Plain and simple, I goofed -- I should added the words "vast majority of the park designated as wilderness." |
We did a ride at Sawgrass Recreational Park last month. It was fun, although cold weather prevented us from seeing many gators. Check out reviews on TripAdvisor. It was noisy, they had a small reptile and mammal animal/zoo area and a foodtruck that had surprisingly good BBQ. Not perfect, but a fun afternoon - this might be what you are looking for. It was about 45 minutes west of Deerfield Beach (which is between FLL and WPB)
