Afternoon Muir Woods Tour??

HI I really am impressed with how much info these forums produce. Please help me with this one.

I have one afternoon - Monday - that we would like to spend to take a tour to Muir Woods from San Francisco. We're not planning on hiring a car and would prefer a guided tour. The only ones I seem to be able to find are customised ones that are running at around $85pp excl entrance.

If anyone knows of a way that we can do this in the afternoon without spending more than we have to that would be great. If there are busses/ferry combinations that would get us there any info would help.

Thanks a lot!

There is no public transportation.

$85 EXCLUDING entrance??? What a rip-off!

You can go to Yosemite for a day by Amtrak RT for that much!

Hi binkieloo,
I did a google search for "Muir Woods Tour" and found several that were well under $85pp. Try this site:

http://www.bitours.com/

That particular company had free hotel pickup and it was $37pp. Also, do a google search and compare prices and times, there seems to be a lot of decently priced tours out there.

Good Luck!

You don't need an $85 customized tour. You can get a group tour for under $50 on two of the ferry lines:

www.blueandgoldfleet.com
www.redandwhite.com

I just realized that you specified afternoon. Red and White has an afternoon tour, but Blue and Gold doesn't (unless they've changed things).

Hi All

Thanks for the help - I really didnt even think to google it - I was looking from the Visitor's Centre pages.

I think I'll go with the Bitours one which is the same as the Red and White one at $3 cheaper.

Thanks again

A tour to Muir Woods isn't necessary. It's a small, beautiful forest. No "guide" is necessary. Anyone who can go on a weekend should check into the new, free Muir Woods Shuttle. You can find out more by calling 415-923-2000 or go to www.goldengate.org

Hi
I work for a company that sells bus tickets and bus tours online. We definitely have some reasonable ones to Muir Woods. Take a look to see if there are any that appeal to you.
