After Theater Dining/Spam a Lot
This weekend staying at Waldorf Astoria and have Spamalot tickets for Saturday night. We will probably do a late lunch and then eat after the show. Since we are staying over at the Waldorf (50th & Park) and the Theater is at 44th and 7th, I thought it would be best to head east for dinner rather than go over towards 8th or 9th Ave.
I would be looking for more casual fare on the line of Balthazar so we could order what we want and not be committed to a huge dinner. A couple of places I thought of--P. J. Clarkes which is about a 1.3 mile walk (cannot count on a taxi) or Cite Grill. If anyone has any ideas for us, I would be most appreciative. |
An ideal place would be Bar Americain, Bobby Flay's "new" place on 52nd between 6th and 7th. Great menu and late night buzz. It's a great place to order light if you want, but you'll have a hard time narrowing down the selection.

Hearty recommendation for www.angusmcindoe.com where you can have light to heavy fare in a casual but nicely upscale (N.Y. casual) ambiance. It's next to the theatre with The Producers, and lots of theatre people go their after shows.

Two great suggestions! I'll try one this time and the other in December after Odd Couple. Many thanks.

I was at Bar Americain last month. Very cool atmosphere, good service and excellent food. We all enjoyed ourselves.

angus macindoe is owned and started by the former manager at joe allen's. if you want that kind of place, stick with joe allen's. bar americain is much more upscale and trendy and has great food.
