I just called the Hyatt Regency. They show no availability for the entire week... Wow. I asked if there was any note in their reservation system about a particular event, but nothing.
My only idea, and it's farfetched but entirely possible... This Hyatt promotes itself as being near SoFi Stadium which is where the Korean boy band BTS is performing every night that week. This is the first live appearance by BTS anywhere since before the pandemic. SoFi stadium is brand new and state-of-the-art for these types of events. I have no doubt people are flying in to go to the concert.
If you don't mind staying a couple of miles from the airport, the Westdrift Hotel (Marriott Autograph Collection) in Manhattan Beach shows availability starting at $279/night. No mention of airport shuttle, but you could inquire. Closer to the airport, the Aloft Hotel (also Marriott brand) shows availability starting at $199, and airport shuttle is mentioned. Neither is in an area appealing for walking. Safe, just not appealing. You could take an Uber/Lyft/taxi to either downtown El Segundo (lots of nice restaurants and a small-town feel) or Manhattan Beach (more upscale but lots of restaurants and a lovely pier). There should be Christmas lights and decorations everywhere.

Well, it's not the Hyatt, and it's not cheap, but the Courtyard, listed on the link I posted, has a room for Dec 1st, and a shuttle: https://www.marriott.com/reservation...aultTab=prepay

Aloft El Segundo which Jean mentioned is not far, has a shuttle and is $200 a night with taxes (still too much IMO). Not pedestrian friendly (on a major highway). There are takeout restaurants within a few blocks, Habit is good and better than In-N-Out, and a supermarket across the highway. I did see that other hotels that I might recommend are also sold out so if you are considering doing this I would put a hold on the Aloft.
If it's this busy expect there to also be a shortage of Uber/Lyft and taxis as well. So I probably wouldn't book a hotel without a shuttle.
I might consider continuing on to Seattle if they have better hotel options there. Depends of course on what Qantas/Alaska will give you for a layover.

You ought to be able to get a decent hotel across from Seatac for $125 or less - the Hilton is pretty nice, but most of them are fine.

walking to a hotel is debatable.
LAX is quite large and hotels are (far) offsite. There is much traffic and little walkways. Hotel shuttles would be best. email them for hours of operation if you are concerned. They are generally free.

Hello again everyone, have booked a hotel at Seatac (or near anyway) thanks for the advice.
I have another quick question now, Qantas had routed me through SF coming home but they have now cancelled that and have me back through LAX again
Coming in on Alaska and going out on Qantas - is 2 hours 15 mins long enough for transit?
Thank you

Usually, as long as your inbound flight isn't delayed for too long.
If missing the international flight would cause big issues, would it be worth asking for an earlier connecting flight?
I once had an outbound (LAX to SFO) domestic connection delayed for 90 minutes on a ground hold at LAX.
It might be worth looking at flightstats.com to review delays on that routing.. For example, yesterday's AS404 (6am SEA to LAX) was delayed by 38 minutes, despite leaving on time.
Even assuming it takes you 20 minutes to walk to the gate from T6 (maybe 30) you should still arrive at the gate before they start boarding.

Thanks guys, have managed to get a United flight out of SeaTac that lands an hour earlier so feeling more comfortable now 😊
Suze, have booked Crowne Plaza at SeaTac for arrival night. Waiting to hear from them as to whether I’ll need to call shuttle or still running past midnight…. I will have a fair bit of luggage ( new grandchild, Christmas, 2 years apart… lol)
Presumably there will be luggage trolleys and hopefully shuttle pick up not too far?

I'm a big believer in better safe than sorry for those international flights which only leave once a day, or if you have another connection at the arrival end.
The Qantas Lounge and Centurion Lounge at TBIT are still closed. I wouldn't expect any change but you can check.
