After Diamond Head?
 

We are planning on watching the sunrise on Diamond Head and therefore will probably done with the whole excursion by 10:00 a.m. What is a good activity to do after that - is it too tiring to do soemthing else?

We were thinking of spending the rest of the day at Pearl Harbor activity - how long is it open until, will it get too crowded later in the day???

I thought the sunrise was better at Makapuu.

You will probably want a nice cold drink or shaved ice. There's a new Wolfgang Puck's a block from the zoo across from the beach. After a refresher you could go on to Pearl Harbor.

You could also skip on over to Hunauma Bay for some snorkeling.

You won't be very tired after Diamond Head. There really isn't that much exertion involved if you are in decent shape.

I like the snorkeling idea! So 10:00 a.m.ish won't be too crowded right??? Sounds like a plan!

If you want to do Pearl harbor, I would go first thing in the morning to avoid crowds and waiting. I believe it opens at 7:30.

I second Hunauma Bay. Keep in mind that I believe it is closed on Tuesdays.

thanks - i will look into the closing schedule. one thing though - i don't know how to swim and am kinda hestiant to do the whole snorkeling thing. Are the waters deep in Hunauma Bay? I know they put a life vest on you and if the waters aren't too deep, I guess I can manage :). Has anyone else done it that isn't a swimmer???

Keep in mind that the parking lot at Hanauma bay fills up very quickly. By 10:00am you may or may not be able to find a spot. As far as snorkeling, my mother in law also doesn't swim but had no problems snorkeling. It's good to try it for the first time at a place like Hanauma because the water's calm and it's an easy entry from the beach. If Hanauma is full, just keep heading the same direction along the coast (it's a beautiful drive) and spend the afternoon at one of the windward side beaches like Kailua.

I agree Pearl Harbor will be too crowded at that time. It's best to get there right before they open or later in the afternoon. In between is very busy.
