African Art shop - Washington D.C.

I once bought an African mask in a dusty old shop in D.C. I'm traveling to D.C. this weekend and I'd like to find that shop.
The shop had hundreds of masks from floor to ceiling as well as other artifacts, spears, drums, even door frames. My fuzzy memory says it was in Georgetown near an Ethiopian restaurant. But that IS a fuzzy memory. Maybe not Georgetown? Ring any bells?

Thanks, JZ

It's not Georgetown, but I hope it's not this one which closed last year after 40 years in business:

Here's a link with some better pictures which might jog your memory:

How kind of you, sending links. The shop I was in was run by a man from one of the African countries - he had an accent - and I do remember the shop had two long narrow rooms and one displayed tee shirts and kitschy trinkets and the other a zillion masks. You're right, not Georgetown. Maybe Adams Morgan.

Wishing you good luck finding it John. Adams Morgan is probably a better shot than G'town. You didn't say when you purchased the mask but AM was the home of the original cluster of Ethiopian restaurants before the U Street Corridor blossomed.

Bought the mask in 2007. Again, thanks for your help.

There is a store in Adams Morgan where you could find it. It's probably two blocks south of 18th and Columbia. Don't know the name, but I was in it about a year ago and it's probably what you are thinking about.

Thank you. Going there today.

I understand that the store in Adams Morgan was closed and so was the one on Indiana near Constitution. I tried open up one
but have not been successful. I do have a sizable inventory of
masks, profiles, drums, busks, paintings, etc. They are all
contemporary Ghanaian art and I welcome anyone who wish to purchase or would like the entire inventory. i can be contacted at 703-864-2195
