Affordable yet charming lodging in the Berkshires?

Hello! My fiance and I would like to arrange a weekend getaway for my parents, as a thank-you gift for our wedding and a celebration of their anniversary. They spent their first married summer in Lenox, when my mom was a Tanglewood fellow.

Any ideas for quaint/charming, yet affordable, lodging ($100 or less per night)? This will probably be in the summer or early Fall. I would like them to stay in the Stockbridge/Lenox area.

Thanks in advance! :)

TarheelsInNj,
what a nice gesture! But I'm afraid it's going to be near impossible.
The area you're thinking of is so popular from July(Tanglewood season)-October(foliage time) that even places like motels have 3 night minimums and double/triple their rates! If you can plan for the off season, maybe you can get a simple B&B or a chain hotel--but it's not an inexpensive area to stay in any time of the year.

Thank you for your response, Janie! I had feared it might not be possible, but I was hoping someone might have a hidden gem :)

hey, if someone comes up with something--I think I'll go too! It's always been out of reach for me at that time of the year!

We have stayed in various places in that area in the fall and the prices are at a premium.
A couple of years ago, we rented a house in South Egremont for the month of August, that was pretty expensive but turned out to be much better with the dog and visitors and eating in more often..restaurants are packed and all restaurants are expensive and require reservations.
Once we stayed at a small motel on the border of NY state and Mass and even there, with the hard bed and thin walls, the price was $99 a night.
You might just have to look farther away from that area.
Check on the rates at the Charles Hotel in Hudson NY. They can easily drive to Lenox, etc from there..and Hudson is interesting with some very good restaurants.
Look for packages at the Red Lion in Stockbridge. Good luck, it is a very nice gesture, you are a good "child" :)

Thank you for the suggestions!

Has anyone stayed at, or heard of, The Ashley Inn in Lee, MA? The rates seem to be affordable for us, but I'm wondering if it's too good to be true.

Thanks! :)

Check into the Birchwood Inn in Lenox. We just made reservations there and the rate was actually less than what was posted on the internet. It's gotten many good comments and has been described as being more like an inn(it's a B&B) than staying in someone's home. It's also close to town(within easy walking distance I believe).

BTW~the rates were for mid October. Summer rates are another story, Often, in such close proximity to Tanglewood, there are three night minimums during the summer.
