Affordable lodging in Williamsburg with kitchen facilities?
 

I'm interested in moderately priced lodging in or near Williamsburg, Va., for a family of four who would like to prepare some of their meals at the hotel. Is anyone familiar with hotels with kitchenettes that are close enough to the historic district to walk or, in the alternative, offer transportation into the historic district?

You might try Powhatan Plantation, a Sunterra timeshare facility that rents to the general public also. Here are some reviews:

We stayed there last fall for four nights and enjoyed it. It's well located for Williamsburg activities.

I'm sorry it took me so long to answer. I had to check the name of a hotel that I know of. I pass it a couple of times a week and can't remember the name. Hotels change their names often here. Just up the road from CW on York (rt 60) is a Sheraton 4 points that has 2 BR efficiencies with kitchens. I have never stayed there so I can't make any recommendations. It is walking distance to CW and very close to the Christina Campbells tavern and to some good restaurants around the corner on 2nd ST. It is also across the street from the horse pasture which always interests the kids.
