Advice re One night in LA

We (two twenty somethings) will be in LA for one night early January! We are wondering what we shouldn't miss? Any suggestions would be appreciated. We will be staying in a hostel in Hollywood Thanks

One night -- not a whole lot of time. Depends on what interests you. If you like music, I'd venture down Sunset Blvd. away from Hollywood (to West Hollywood) to the Strip, and check out a variety of different music clubs.

I know not much time but it's a bit of a flying trip! We arrive at 9am and leave the next day at 9pm. We are into music so that may be good, any specific clubs? THanks Surfergirl

House of Blues...

Yes, House of Blues, Viper Room, Whiskey, Roxy, and Key Club. All within relative walking distance of one another. Down from there is the Troubadour. As soon as you arrive, get a copy of the L.A. Weekly (free publication) -- the clubs (and whose on) are located about halfway through the magazine. I think you can also get a good portion of the L.A. Weekly online (I think it's laweekly.com, but I could be wrong).
