On the rim, also look at Kachina,Thunderbird and elTovar for lodging. We have stayed at Thunderbird, el Tovar and Yavapai as well as Bright Angel cabins. If there are three of you the cabin would be too small and the room we had in el Tovar would be too but there are larger rooms there too. The room we had at Thunderbird was similar in size to the one at Yavapai but much more conveniently located. When you check in you can check your location and if you would like something closer, ask about cancelations.
