Advice on attractions
WE WILL BE AT A CONVENTIONAT ST. PETES BEACH MID JANUARY. WHAT ATTRACTIONS SHOULD WE TAKE ON OUR EXTENED TRIP?
|
Stop shouting.

Dear stop

STOP CRITICIZING!!! If you don't have anything constructive to say regarding Carol's question then don't say anything!!
|
Depends on what you like to do! there is Busch Gardens in Tampa for thrill rides and wild animals, the Dali museum in St. Pete for bizarre art, a Seaquarium in Tampa to see fishies, the old latin quarter in Tampa, the name of which escapes me at the moment, for antique stores and restaraunts and clubs, and lots of beautiful beaches!

Down town St. Petersberg has a great Inner Harbor area which is a great place for lunch. the art museum though on the small side always has an interesting exhibit besides their regular collection. The Dale Museum is one of the best in the country. The parks and local beaches are great and not very crowded in Jan. The downtown Tampa area also has lots to offer. Less than 3 hours away is Disneyworld. Less than 90 min. away is Busch Gardens.
Clearwater has touristy area than can be fun for an afternoon. Then there's Sarasota and its gardens and upscale shopping. Check out the website for these places and everyone will send you visitor material. I'm sure you will find lots to do no marrwe what your interests are. Have fun!!!

A trip to Sarasota is an easy drive from St. Pete and an enjoyable city to visit. Take time to go see the Ringling Circus Musuem while you're there. The grounds are quite nice and the place actually has some quite nice pieces of art on display. I would also recommend the Salvador Dali Museum...it's a smaller museum, so don't worry about it taking up your entire day. I think the area being referred to in the Tampa latin quarter is known as Yerba? We had dinner at a great restuarant there - I think it was called Columbias - wonderful food and entertainment with flamenco dancing. There's so much to do in the area, I'm sure you'll find plenty to keep you busy.

The Dali museum is really great. The enterance fee includes a docent tour - so you get an expert to take you through the museum and explain the paintings, evolution of Dali's work, etc. It was teh hgihlight of a weekend trip I made to St. Pete's a few years back.

It's Ybor City...I haven't been there myself yet (keep meaning too) but they have GREAT beer made right there. The Columbia Restaurant is there and it is delicious! I hear they have cool shops for the daytime and a really happening night life.

About 45 minutes north is Tarpon Springs. A fun Greek community, with awesome food & pasteries!

I agree with STOP. Stop shouting. If you are going to use the internet and bulletin boards at least learn internet manners.
|
did it cross the mind of any of the shouting advisors that maybe CAROL (God bless her) does not know Internet etiquette ? in that case rather than TELLING HER OFF you could have let her know that using uppercase in emails means SHOUTING - thanks
